Basic income is basically a policy whereby the government transfers a certain amount of money to an account on a regular basis for all citizens.
It has probably been about 10 years since I read about this policy in a book, but I would say that we are still a long way from everyone in the world being able to receive some form of basic income.

There are some countries in the world that have pilot programs, but none of them seem to have implemented them in earnest since then.
For example, Finland experimented with basic income in 2017-2018. The results reported that while there was no significant impact on work ethic or employment promotion, stress was reduced and happiness improved.
However, despite these positive results, the program has not been fully implemented.

The difficulties with a basic income system include the problem of financial resources and the need to review other systems such as social security.

Here is a list of places that are currently experimenting or are planning to experiment with basic income.

Oregon, U.S.A.: The Oregon Rebate has successfully collected the signatures needed for the November 2024 general election. The Oregon Rebate establishes a statewide universal basic income.
Ireland…A three-year Basic Income pilot program starting in September 2022: 2,000 artists and cultural workers will receive an unconditional income of ?325 per week.
the Special Province of Yogyakarta, Indonesia…implemented from November 2021 to April 2022. The final report will be presented at a public forum on Sunday, May 7, 2023.
It is likely that other experiments are being conducted in other parts of the world.

And in the world of crypto assets, there seems to be a cryptocurrency for basic income. There are many currencies for universal basic income (UBI), taking advantage of the characteristics that people around the world can receive.

And I wish this Hive could be more like a basic income. In my opinion, depending on the amount, if people could receive a basic income of, say, half of a typical monthly salary in the country, it would not weaken people’s motivation to work so much. The reason is that if they have a serious illness, have an accident, or some other serious problem, they would be in trouble if they did not have money.
